It started to rain today while we were resting our injuries. I had Michael put mud on my back so I could get some relief from my burns. Michael's shoulder is badly bruised, and it seems to be getting worse rather than better. With the shape that we both are in, we figured it would be best if we went home and rested before we went out again.
We are now on our way back to McCready. It will be good to see our families again. We could even get more men to go back out with us to fight. It will take about 3 days to get back home, as long as we stay the course back. We hope not to come in contact with any dragons because we are in no shape to fight.
It'll be good to go home and protect our families in case the dragons decide to change course and go toward McCready. I'll be so happy to see my beautiful wife and my son. They are the light of my life, I don't know what I would do without them.
I know Michael will be happy to see his wife. They just found out recently that they were having a baby. I'll be an uncle some time in October. Its truly exciting that our families are growing. If Michael's baby turns out to be a boy, he will become a dragon slayer, just like my son will be a dragon slayer when he gets older.
Even though we are badly injured, we know that there is still a chance we will face a dragon. As long as there is breath in Michael and I's body, we will fight. It won't be the first time I've had to fight in pain.
The rain is making our ride back tough, but it will surely be great to be home. I just hope our ride back is a safe one.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 10
When I awoke this morning, I saw Michael was cutting off the dead dragons skin, and making armor out of it. He was getting ready for any attack that we would face as we were heading east.
We knew that we would have to face many dragons very soon. We could see the Mount of Omaya in the distance, and we knew that dragons live on that mountain. Michael and I's plan was to go as far east as the Mount of Omaya, then we would return back to our families. The mountain looked like it was still a day away.
We got on our horses, and headed east. It didn't take much time before we saw a dragons nest. It was up in a tree, which meant that they were winged dragons. I climbed the tree and noticed that the eggs in the nest have not hatched. I knew that meant that the mother was very close. I then knocked the nest to the ground, which broke the 2 eggs that were inside. As I climbed down from the tree, I saw the dragon mother coming back to her nest.
Michael and I got on our horses, and hid behind a large rock. The dragon mother noticed that the nest was on the ground, so she flew down to investigate it. As she was sniffing the broken eggs, I ran out with my sword drawn. When she spotted me, she began to fly away. I threw my sword, and cut one of her wings off. She fell to the ground, and I knew that she was still very dangerous. As I was running back to the large rock, the dragon breathed fire, which burned my back very badly. Michael ran out on his horse and tried to help. When the dragon saw him coming, she took her tail and hit Michael's horse with it. Michael fell off his horse, which injured his shoulder. The dragon then ran off with only one wing, and from her groans, you can tell she was in great pain.
Michael and I laid on the ground for a while. The burns on my back began to blister immediately. I was in a lot of pain. Michael's shoulder was dislocated, but he put it back in the socket. Michael's horse had a gash on the side of it, but Michael took a piece of the dragons wing, and covered the gash. We are badly beat up, so we decided to rest for a while before we started heading east again. In the meantime, I need to find some water to help cool the burn on my back. Depending on how bad we feel after we rest, we have to head home early, but only time will tell.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 9
Michael saved my life today. It happened as we were heading east toward the next village. Since the sun was going down, we found some open land and decided to camp there for the night. After resting for a while, I went to fetch some wood so we could build a fire. Michael took his sword, and decided to go hunt for some food.
I made the biggest mistake that a dragon slayer could make, I didn't take my sword with me when I went to get wood. I was not far into the woods, maybe 50 steps away from the camp site. I had a handful of wood when I heard the grass moving beside me. When I looked over, there were 2 big yellow eyes looking at me. It was a dragon, and it was about 20 feet long. It was a male, I could tell by the horns on his head. That also meant that he didn't breathe fire.
I turned and began to run toward the camp site, dropping all the wood as I ran. As I was yelling for help, I could hear the trees behind me falling as the dragon was pushing them over as he was running after me. I got out of the woods when the dragon knocked me over with his head. I started to crawl toward my sword, when I felt the dragons warm breath on my back.
Just then, a large rock hit the dragon in its side. The beast turned his attention away from me, and turned toward the direction of the thrown rock. The dragon began to run toward Michael, and without fear, Michael began to run toward him. The dragon then opened his mouth to eat Michael. Michael then took his sword, and stabbed the dragon through the bottom of its mouth. The force was so strong that the sword went through its mouth into the ground, pinning the dragon down. While the dragon was fighting to get away, Michael grabbed my sword, and cut the dragons head off.
I'm very lucky that Michael was around to save me. I'm not badly hurt, just very much shaken up. We still decided to stay the night, and continue east in the morning. I have decided that we are going to sleep in shifts, so we can keep each other safe during the night. I hope I am able to repay Michael before the end of the journey.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 8
Michael and I made it through the night, but Michael's horse wasn't so lucky. We found it dead when we went into the woods at sunrise. It had to be some mountain lions or coyotes that killed it. It couldn't be a dragon because the bones were left.
Michael and I put on our armor and strapped on our swords and continued east. We were heading to McGriffin. The last time I was in McGriffin was many years ago when I was dragon slaying with father. I remember that we were hired for 30 sheckels of silver. Luckily, the dragon was living in a cave, so no one in the village was hurt. It was the first dragon I slayed without any help from father.
When we finally made it to McGriffin, we noticed that the village was very crowded. At first Michael and I weren't sure why, but then we realized that the survivors of Corolet had escaped to McGriffin. There was a meeting being held at the church, when we got there. When we entered the church, Michael and I hid in the back and listened to the meeting. They were talking about how the dragons needed to be stopped before more villages were burned to the ground. Many men were saying how scared they were, and said that they wouldn't help in the fight against the beasts.
Michael and I stayed to ourselves until the pastor spotted us in the back of the church. He had recognized me from many years ago when I was hired to kill the dragon in the village. He asked us what McGriffin should do as a village. Since the dragons were east, Michael and I informed everyone to head west to McCready. We believed that with all the trained dragon slayers there, that would be the safest place. We then informed them that we will continue until we had eliminated all the dragons.
McGriffin was very pleased with Michael and I. We knew that they were relying on us to help them. The people prepared us a meal before we continued on. The turkey legs, greens, and bread were delicious. The horses that they gave us to ride from village to village was a great sign of their gratitude.
As the people McGriffin headed west, Michael and I continued east. This day is still very young, we still expect danger very soon. With our new horses, we are now able to get to each village quicker. We are now headed into unfamiliar territory. I'm still very glad that I'm not heading east alone.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 7
As the sun was going down, Michael and I decided that we were going to stay the night in Corolet when we got there. As we were approaching Corolet, we noticed a child that was walking through the woods. The little girl, that had to be about 4 years old, told Michael and I that she had survived an attack on her village. She was from Corolet.
She told us that 2 dragons had come into her village and destroyed it. They knocked down buildings, they trampled people, and they burned down homes. The men in the village tried to fight against them, but were unsuccessful. The little girl said that she ran away after she watched her home be burned down with her parents inside.
Its never easy seeing villages destroyed by these beasts. Michael and I decided to continue on to Corolet to offer as much aid as we could. We found out that the little girls name was Chelsea.
Michael and I put on our armor and put on our swords and decided to go into the village on foot. We told Chelsea to get on my horse, and ride to my village of McCready. I told her not to slow down for anything, just get to safety. We kept Michael's horse in case we had to escape quickly.
After Chelsea took off, we continued on to Corolet. When we arrived there, we couldn't find any survivors, and there wasn't any sign of the dragons still being there. It was dark, but because the village was still burning, we could still see. We have decided to stay the night here, but we aren't going to sleep. We are going to wait for the sun to rise before we continue east. I have no doubts that we will encounter some dragons sometime tomorrow. Michael and I realize that we are approaching great danger, but there are many people that are relying on us. We realize that we must move quickly, so no more villages are destroyed.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 6
Michael and I were heading to the next town of Corolet to pick up some supplies. We knew that we had to be getting close to danger.
We knew of a river that was just ahead of us. Michael and I were thirsty, and we didn't know how much more traveling we were going to do. We decided to drink from the water when we noticed a nest right off the river bank. The nest belonged to dragons, and all three eggs that were in the nest had hatched. After further investigation, they had hatched that day.
Because baby dragons hunt within a mile of their nest during the first two days that they are born, we decided to stay in the area until they came back. It was for our safety to kill the dragons before we move further east.
Michael took his sword and cut his horses leg, so the dragons will smell the blood, and come back to the area. We both put on our armor, our swords, and we then hid in the woods. It didn't take long before they came back.
Two of the dragons came back together, and they both already had blood on their mouths. They probably found a deer, or maybe a coyote. They both came in slowly. One was coming in from the front of the horse and the other from the back. I told Michael that I would kill the one coming in from the front, and he would kill the one from the back.
As the dragon was about to attack the horse, Michael and I ran out and cut the dragons heads off. We both knew that we were in danger, because there was still one more baby still in the area. As we were getting ready to continue east, Michael takes his sword, and throws it behind me. When I turned around, there was a dragon with a sword sticking out of his neck. I then took my sword, and cut the dragons head off. Apparently, the third dragon was hiding in the river. I don't think he was hunting our horses, I think he knew we were in the woods, and he was hunting us.
We saddled up, and continued east. Our next stop is going to be Corolet, unless we are confronted with the dragon mother. We do expect to meet her soon.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer - 5
As the sun starts shining through the trees, I have been awaken by a nightmare.
I saw a dragon whose eyes were as red as fire. His teeth were as sharp as the blade of my sword. The skin was as strong as steel and was black as the night. He had wings that were as wide as the height of 10 men. His tail was as strong as the trunk of an oak tree. His scream was deafening and buildings would fall with one roar. He stood higher than the highest castle; and he was looking at me.
I attacked him, and tried piercing his scales with my sword, but I didn't even leave a mark. He then lowered his head to the ground, and screeched. Just the sound that I heard in my sleep, awoke me.
Even though it is just a dream, it is a type of dragon that Michael and I may encounter. Villages have been burned to the ground because of their fire breath, and buildings have fallen with one swipe of their tail. Many have died attempting to fight these beasts. The truth is, many don't know how to fight them.
Since they have 2 hearts, and their stomachs are so hot that they will melt your sword, the only way to kill dragons is by cutting off their heads. Their necks are the weakest part of their body. I think its because it has to be the most flexible so they can move their heads around to see. I know I already know this, but sometimes its good to remind yourself before confronting one of them.

Diary of a Dragon Slayer- 4
For years, I've had no problems leaving the village to go eliminate those dragons. I remember when I left for 3 months to go fight and I didn't worry about anything. I killed 14 during that time. This is a different time now. To leave Mellissa and John for any amount of time, breaks my heart. I have to do what I have to do, though.
When I woke up this morning, Mellissa knew the decision that I was making. It broke my heart when she handed me my sword and shield and she was crying. She told me that she was upset, but she knew that me hitting the dragons before they made it here was the best decision.
I saddled up Franklin and got ready to head east. Mellissa insisted that I stay for one last meal before I go. We ate fresh eggs and fresh baked bread. It was probably the best tasting meal that I've eaten, because it could be the last one I have with my wife.
As I was packing everything I needed on my horse, I was so happy to see Michael and his wife coming over the hill. I couldn't do anything else but run to him and hug him. Its been 3 years since I saw him last. He was covered with blood, and instead of riding in on a horse, he was on foot.
He explained that while he was traveling here from Silverton, he was confronted by a dragon, just 5 miles away from McCready. The dragon had knocked him and his wife off of their horse, then killed the horse. Michael took his sword and while the dragon was feasting on the horse, he cut the beasts head off.
After he told me that story, I knew that we didn't have much time. They're coming, and now is the time for something to be done. Michael borrowed one of my horses and a shield, and we prepared to ride together to confront these animals. We said goodbye, and got to riding. I'm just glad that I'm going with my brother, and not by myself.
The sun went down and we hadn't seen any dragons. We decided to set up camp, and get back to riding at sunrise. We knew that we wouldn't be able to do anything during the night. We will rest until sunrise, and we both know tomorrow will be a day of dragon slaying.
