Michael saved my life today. It happened as we were heading east toward the next village. Since the sun was going down, we found some open land and decided to camp there for the night. After resting for a while, I went to fetch some wood so we could build a fire. Michael took his sword, and decided to go hunt for some food.
I made the biggest mistake that a dragon slayer could make, I didn't take my sword with me when I went to get wood. I was not far into the woods, maybe 50 steps away from the camp site. I had a handful of wood when I heard the grass moving beside me. When I looked over, there were 2 big yellow eyes looking at me. It was a dragon, and it was about 20 feet long. It was a male, I could tell by the horns on his head. That also meant that he didn't breathe fire.
I turned and began to run toward the camp site, dropping all the wood as I ran. As I was yelling for help, I could hear the trees behind me falling as the dragon was pushing them over as he was running after me. I got out of the woods when the dragon knocked me over with his head. I started to crawl toward my sword, when I felt the dragons warm breath on my back.
Just then, a large rock hit the dragon in its side. The beast turned his attention away from me, and turned toward the direction of the thrown rock. The dragon began to run toward Michael, and without fear, Michael began to run toward him. The dragon then opened his mouth to eat Michael. Michael then took his sword, and stabbed the dragon through the bottom of its mouth. The force was so strong that the sword went through its mouth into the ground, pinning the dragon down. While the dragon was fighting to get away, Michael grabbed my sword, and cut the dragons head off.
I'm very lucky that Michael was around to save me. I'm not badly hurt, just very much shaken up. We still decided to stay the night, and continue east in the morning. I have decided that we are going to sleep in shifts, so we can keep each other safe during the night. I hope I am able to repay Michael before the end of the journey.
