Its not always easy being a professional dragon slayer. There aren't very many of us left. Many stay in the village as bakers, lock smiths, and blacksmiths. That's all they've known for their whole lives. When you're a professional dragon slayer, its filled with danger and you know that one day, you may not come back home to your family.
I've killed many dragons, and I've seen many villages destroyed because of dragons. I have also lost many friends and family because of these dragons. There isn't a day that goes by that I wish I could do another profession, but this is all I know. My father, my brother, my uncle; we are all dragon slayers. One day, even my son will do this.
So you may ask, why do I do it? To risk my life everyday, and the pay isn't even that good. The reason is this, there are people who want to be bakers, lock smiths, blacksmiths, and many other professions that keep our village moving. The fact that they don't have to do what I do, and can go to work without any fear, makes me happy. I'm no hero, but someone has to keep these dragons away from here. The fact that everyone is safe is the only thanks that I need.
Even though its a rough winter, it doesn't mean that my work will slow down. It is a well known fact that dragons don't hibernate. The village needs me. It is believed that there are dragons coming in from the east. The village shouldn't worry; me, my sword, and my shield are ready.
